Stantec in Dubai, UAE has an immediate opening for a Roads Engineer to join our dynamic team.Primary Job Role:Responsible for the design of roads, profiling/grading, road marking/signage, setting out, cross sections, pavement design, service roads, parking lots design, incorporating tunnels and complex grade separation interchanges including Authority approvals.Responsibilities:• Apply high standards of quality in preparing the necessary design documents throughout the project phases from concept stage presentations through to detailed construction drawings.• Preparation of the preliminary design through to the final design of road geometry, signage and marking, ancillary works of major urban and inter-urban road projects, incorporating tunnels, complex grade separation interchanges, and service roads, investigation of alternatives, route selection and preparation of the main items of bill quantities.• Assign work to supporting engineers, supervise and review their output.• Work proactively with the multidisciplinary design team, liaise with sub-consultants and coordinate with local authorities to ensure coordinated, satisfactory, and high-quality submissions.• Responsible for the submission, discussion and follow up with local authorities to obtain Road Design approvals, permits and No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) in coordination with Stantec’s local authority/Stakeholder Engineer.• Support and work closely with the traffic team on the production of Traffic Impact Study (TIS) reports and plans to obtain approval from the concerned authorities.Key Performance Indicator:Leadership and Team Spirit:• Demonstrates the values and behavior aligned to Stantec Ethics and Code of Conduct.• Engages in professional discussions, brainstorming sessions and generation of ideas to contribute to the enhancement of productivity and reputation of the company.• Demonstrates ability to work and communicate effectively with other team members.• Positive feedback is received from colleagues and clients.Work and client focus:• Engages with clients ensuring a shared understanding of client vision and project requirements.• Ensures that Stantec applicable standard project procedures and protocols are followed.• Assists with preparation of the Client Communication Plan.• Facilitates and participates in design and technical reviews.• Develops knowledge of appropriate building regulations and compliance issues.• Ensures all project tasks are delivered on time as agreed with project or team leader.• With assistance, manages the progress of smaller projects by monitoring and reviewing project outputs to ensure client brief and expectations, budgets and timeframes are met.Initiative and General:• Actively participates in team meetings/activities to discuss ways to achieve better results.• Applies appropriate Stantec design/technical tools QA/QC processes and guidelines to all tasks.• Assists in the preparation of Proposal bids and submissions.• Responds appropriately to performance feedback.• Attends seminars, lectures, private research and reading of current design and technical literature – towards an aim of achieving professional status.About the companyCommunities are fundamental.
